Jim Thomson, as principal of Outback Energy Supply (OES), has been providing a range of electrical solutions in a diverse range of resource and rural industries for over 30 years. Since 1999, Jim has been applying his electrical background to the renewable energy field.
The company has grown from a one-man operation into today’s award-winning multi-discipline workforce. Operating from a workshop showroom and offices in the CBD of Boulder, Western Australia, OES is ideally located to serve a wide range of clients throughout the state.
Jim is the inventor of the Outback Power Pack, a containerised portable no-dig solar/wind/diesel hybrid power system in continuous development since 2004. The Outback Power Pack won the ABC New Inventors People’s Choice Award in 2010.
Alongside the extensive range of electrical works, Jim and Outback Energy Supply provide energy efficiency auditing services for industry and personal clients.
With the customised stand-alone, off grid hybrid/grid connected, solar water pumping, solar for communications and domestic and commercial solar, with an extensive range of diesel gensets available, OES has all power generation requirements covered.
Jim Thomson has supported nearly 20 apprentices through to trades completion, has employed trainees and supported immigrants into Australia via direct sponsorship and mentoring through their employment. The OES workforce has consisted of people from all walks of life, gender and cultural identity.
